2026 Aston Martin DBX vs. Lamborghini Urus Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos
The Aston Martin DBX takes supercar power and puts it in an SUV package, giving you more seats, more cargo space, and even some off-road capability. The DBX707 variant also adds a lot more luxury and sophisticated good looks than you’ll often get with supercars. But it is not without competitors, and most notable of these comes from Lamborghini, the makers of the original supercar SUV fully four decades ago. The current offering is the Urus and its new SE variant, and it’s worth taking a look at how it compares to the DBX.
Aston Martin DBX707 VS Lamborghini Urus SE
Both of these super SUVs come with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood, but they still take a different approach to performance. The DBX707 uses a “hot V” configuration first developed for use in Formula 1 racing. This nestles the turbochargers in the V of the engine, allowing for especially responsive performance, even lower down in the revs. The Urus SE, on the other hand, mates the engine to a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that provides extra umph in the form of an electric motor. The engine in the DBX707 produces 697 horsepower, while the gasoline engine in the Urus SE produces 620, but the electric motor brings the system total up to 789 horsepower. It sounds as though the Urus SE should therefore be the quicker of the two, but the PHEV drivetrain adds significant weight to the Lamborghini, and the result is a 3.4-second 0-62 time, compared to the 3.3-second time from the DBX707. That difference in 0-62 times isn’t huge, obviously, but it shows the flaw in Lamborghini’s approach to adding more power.
Styling has always been a strong suit for Aston Martin, with a signature look that blends elegance with aggression for a look that is effortlessly attention-getting. The Urus, and any Lamborghini model for that matter, is not that. The Urus is a visual temper tantrum, demanding that you look at it, no matter whether the attention being paid is positive or negative. The paint color option list is dominated by oranges, yellows, and bright greens, all used to enhance the sharp, angular look of the body. The Urus telegraphs the effort put into getting attention, in comparison to the more confidently understated sophistication of Aston Martin styling.
The interior of the Urus SE is just as outrageous as the exterior, and it highlights another difference between these two vehicles. Aston Martin is an independent company, and all of the parts found in the DBX707 are bespoke Aston Martin parts. Lamborghini is owned by Volkswagen, and a good deal of parts sharing takes place between divisions. That means the Urus shares its platform with vehicles like the Audi Q8 and the European-market Volkswagen Touareg. The Audi influence is particularly noticeable in the cabin layout. This is, ultimately, a cost-saving move on the part of Lamborghini, and therefore not exactly the sort of thing that buyers are looking for in an uncompromising super SUV.
Winner - Aston Martin DBX707
For all of the horsepower and outrageous styling of the Urus SE, it doesn’t manage to outdo the DBX707 in performance, styling, or even exclusivity. For supercar performance wrapped in refined English luxury sensibilities, the DBX707 is in a category all its own. A legend befitting a legendary marque like Aston Martin.
