Aston Martin Performance Guide – Expert Luxury Insights

Aston Martin is known for several things, like elegant and distinctive styling and luxurious interiors. But performance is also one of the brand’s cornerstones, and is every bit as impressive as the other attributes. Aston Martin uses two different engine types: V12 engines that are produced in-house, and V8 engines that are made by Mercedes-AMG, but tuned to produce more power by Aston Martin. Both types offer incredible performance, and we’ve put together this guide to show you just how incredible it is.

Aston Martin DBX Performance

  • Engine - 4.0-liter V8
  • Horsepower - 717
  • Torque - 663 lb-ft
  • 0-60 - 3.1 seconds
  • Top Speed - 193 mph

The first-ever SUV from Aston Martin, the DBX raises the bar for performance SUVs to incredible heights. The V8 engine comes with twin turbochargers using an F1-developed “hot-V” configuration for maximum responsiveness. Six-piston calipers and carbon ceramic discs mean that stopping also happens incredibly quickly. And on top of all of this, there is a spacious back seat with 40.9 inches of rear legroom, not the sort of thing that usually comes with this level of performance.

Aston Martin Vantage Performance

  • Engine - 4.0-liter V8
  • Horsepower - 656
  • Torque - 590 lb-ft
  • 0-62 - 3.5 seconds
  • Top Speed - 202 mph

The Vantage is the Aston Martin sports car model, a more refined alternative to the mass-market offerings from manufacturers like Porsche. Power comes from a twin-turbo V8, and is sent to a transmission that is rear mid-mounted for optimal weight distribution. Water-to-air intercoolers keep the charge air from the turbos at an optimal temperature. The Vantage wears performance tires made by Michelin specifically for Aston Martin and the exacting standards these vehicles demand.

Aston Martin DB12 Performance

  • Engine - 4.0-liter V8
  • Horsepower - 670
  • Torque - 590 lb-ft
  • 0-62 - 3.6 seconds
  • Top Speed - 202 mph

Aston Martin was built on grand touring cars, and while the DB12 carries on that tradition, the performance it delivers elevates it to the status super tourer. The V8 engine comes with dual twin-scroll turbochargers for a wide power band. The bespoke tires provide excellent grip, but are also made with Michelin Acoustic Tire Technology, which isolates road noise for a quieter cabin, making for the kind of refined driving experience that you expect from Aston Martin. The DB12 comes in three forms, the Coupe, the Volante (convertible), and a special Goldfinger Edition inspired by the DB5 used in the 1964 movie Goldfinger, the first Bond movie to feature an Aston Martin car.

Aston Martin Vanquish Performance

  • Engine - 5.2-liter V12
  • Horsepower - 824
  • Torque - 737 lb-ft
  • 0-62 - 3.3 seconds
  • Top Speed - 214 mph

The Vanquish, as the name suggests, sits at the top of the Aston Martin performance lineup. The 5.2-liter bi-turbo V12 produces an astonishing amount of power, with specially designed higher-speed turbochargers and water-to-air intercooling. The brakes are carbon ceramic, and use six-piston calipers in both the front and back. The tires are again bespoke, made by Pirelli, and they employ the Pirelli Noise Cancelling System™ (PNCS). The Adpative Damping System delivers excellent handling for this super GT, and the interior provides an incredible level of luxury.
